"I just happened to mention COSTECH and the immigration person I was talking to just happened to be Mabruk’s dad!"
In the summer of 2014, Jasmine Pierce spent almost nine weeks in Yendi, Ghana as an intern from Harding University. She had no idea what a profound impact it would have on her life. She grew to love the children at COSTECH and the people of Ghana. One student she grew close to was a small, but brilliant teenager named Mabruk. On August 2, 2016 she traveled to Ghana for the second time to visit the friends she had made two years ago and to work again at COSTECH.
When Jasmine arrived at the airport in Accra, she found she had a problem with her visa. She had been traveling for almost two days and was exhausted and ready to rest. Because her phone did not work in Ghana, she had no way of contacting the family she was supposed to stay with. As she shared her story with us in America, she said, “I was sweating there for a bit!”
But just as she started to worry, God intervened. She told us, “I just happened to mention COSTECH and the immigration person I was talking to just happened to be Mabruk’s dad! I showed him a picture of me and Mabruk and then he called Mabruk and I got to talk to him. He immediately stopped helping other people and got me everything I needed.” We may think “What a coincidence”, but I think God was working things out. Psalm 26:3, “for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.”
