Appropriate Technology is working with what is appropriate for any given community.  The Ghana mission is using technology that is appropriate for communities that are economically underprivileged, and technologically behind most first and second world communities.

While the drilling project we operate in Ghana is done with advanced technology - we use large air rotary drilling rigs, and highly skilled operators - there is technology available that would allow a community to drill a water well using simple equipment, and communal labor. 

Included in this website is a Hand Drilling Manual.  With it, even unskilled, people can have the equipment manufactured, and can use it to drill a water well for their town or village.  There is enough information in the manual to give you what you need to collectively drill for and find water.

Water is essential to life.  Clean, contaminant and parasite-free water is essential to healthy life.  By following the instructions in the Hand Drilling Manual anyone will be able to work with their community and help provide the clean water needed for health and life.
