How To Pray For Your Missionaries

Pray that they may be continually focused on Jesus, our mediator, our example, the source of our strength,  God’s own Son who has lived on this Earth  as we are.

That they may manifest the heart of a servant.

That God will grant them joy, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook regarding their work.

That God will supply them with extra measures of patience, flexibility, energy, resilience, and perseverance.

That God will help them contend with and overcome the continual cultural stresses and enable them to be culturally sensitive so as to be effective communicators of God’s message.

Ask God to increase their language learning skill.

Pray that God will surround them with safety and protection from injury and disease.

Ask Him to deliver them from fear, loneliness, discouragement, and depression.

So that they may win souls for eternity, ask Him to open doors of opportunity for the gospel and give the missionaries the wisdom necessary for recognition of these opportunities, and then the discernment and strength for appropriate action.

Petition the Father to give them the resolve and strength to maintain moral integrity, for they are His representatives, His ambassadors.   Ask for strength that they might flee temptation.

Surely as you pray, you will ask the creator to grant them humility with appropriate assertiveness.

Pray for the political situation in their country of work, the government and its leaders, and the freedom to spread the gospel message.

Pray for the family - the husband/wife relationship, the children, and that they may grow closer together because of their missionary service.  And pray for the family left at home.

Finally, ask the giver of all good and perfect gifts to provide them with a continual, spontaneous, sensitivity and compassion for the needs of others.
